Kenzie Academy is a bootcamp for prospective programmers who have a keen interest in software development and design. With headquarters in Indiana, the bootcamp is completely online and it offers full-time and part-time online courses.
Much shorter than the average online computer science degree program, its extensive programs run for six to nine months and are combined with career coaching services. This Kenzie Academy review will help you make an informed decision about the bootcamp based on costs, programs, and the application process.
Kenzie Academy has been around since 2017, and it has helped many graduates launch tech careers. According to its most recent report, students got a 130 percent salary increase after graduating from Kenzie Academy.
If you graduate from Kenzie Academy, you could join alumni at reputable companies like JPMorgan, Salesforce, Infosys, Shopify, DMI, and IDEXX.
Kenzie Academy has two main programs. These are the full-time software engineering program and part-time UX design program. Both options get you job-ready, in nine months and in six months respectively. You can start with the prep course if you don’t have prior coding experience.
This program runs for nine months and covers the critical components of data structures, algorithms, front end development, DevOps, and React. You will also learn JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, Django, and Git. It runs for 36 weeks online, with new cohorts starting on a rolling basis.
By the end of the program, you will know how to develop simple and complex software. You will then be able to work for a company or create and market software as a freelancer.

Tuition: $20,000
If you’re interested in UX design, this part-time program might be the answer. It runs for six months, and students are taught with a project-based curriculum. You will learn everything there is to know about creating websites with beautiful user interfaces.
There is also a class dedicated to product management, so you’ll get a taste of the complete lifecycle of product development.
Location: Online
Tuition: $10,000
The application process is like any other bootcamp application. You can apply through the website’s application portal. All you have to do is fill in your details and wait for an advisor to contact you.
The advisor will schedule a phone screening with you to determine if you are a good fit for Kenzie Academy. The interviewer will ask about your experience with coding or UX design.
You will also be asked about your transferable skills, not just your technical skills. The interviewer will want to know how fluent you are in communication, English speaking, and teamwork, among other things.
If you pass the interview, you can move forward with enrollment by choosing a payment plan and attending the prep course.
The tuition for full-time programs at Kenzie Academy is $20,000, while the cost for part-time programs is $10,000. Both courses are covered by the Kenzie Guarantee.
The guarantee means that the entire tuition will be refunded if you do not get a job within six months of graduation. A dedicated team from Kenzie Academy will support you through the entire job search process.
Kenzie Academy allows students to pay tuition in installments for 12 to 24 months. You can opt for loan financing with Skills Fund or sign an income share agreement (ISA). The ISA allows you to only start repaying tuition when you secure a job above a certain salary threshold.
Additionally, students from underrepresented groups and international students may qualify for scholarships from Kenzie Academy. The bootcamp offers hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships every year.

Kenzie offers a hands-on learning environment where you learn by doing rather than sitting in front of a lecturer and trying to retain that information. You learn how to learn fast.I love this project based learning aspect at Kenzie. The environment is great. Instructors are super supportive and go above and beyond. You not only learn to code but you will also learn the soft skills needed . Overall my experience at Kenzie so far is amazing. The curriculum is current. Anybody who wants to become a software developer s

I’ve been part of the 2nd user experience design chort at Kenzie Academy for 7 months now and i could not be in a better place. When starting at Kenzie I knew almost nothing about UX design but over the past 7 moths I can say i feel more than job ready. Along with the second half of my one year track whitch is front end development . I am now learing how i can take all the designs i’ve man and actually build them in a full functioning app/website. Dont feel like I am dragging my self into class everyday like some of my college experience was like. I enjoy feeling like im a real work environment learning hands on how my day to day might feel like at a real company.

I am in my upper 20’s, changed my career, previous college degree (unrelated), minor (very minor) experience in coding coming in to Kenzie.
I was looking for an out of my previous career and found this. I liked that this education model includes the ISA, it shows that the school won’t succeed unless the students do. After I graduated I ended up finding a poisition on my own efforts through networking and applying on my own. I was provided opportunities through the school’s resources but either someone else was selected or the the position was less than ideal, (why I gave 4 out of 5 in job assistance).
There are multiple opportunities to teach and coach others, or be coached, so gives a full breadth of experience. I will say the majority of the curriculum is really solid, and can teach a beginner what they need to know, but like any fast track programs I recommend putting in effort outside of core hours, and look beyond the scope of what they are teaching. I do see room for improvement in the back end curriculum, I suppose that would be my only ‘complaint’, but it was still really good. (curriculum would be 5/5 if they improved the backend)

I just wanted to start off by saying how grateful I am to have found Kenzie Academy during this process of “Getting into Tech” journey. I have discovered another side of me that I’ve given up on due to life-changing events (liked becoming a full-time mom). After going through several assignments/assessments at Kenzie Academy, it has become extremely rewarding to test my capability and knowledge during the learning process. I was so used to doing self-paced learning that when I had access to a coaching/mentorship at Kenzie, I knew I was in good hands and I was no longer afraid to fail. Whenever I had a question or felt stuck on a problem, I always knew I could find help/assistance. They are very supportive and really believe in you. I mean, for a year, they are investing in you without getting paid in return during that time, that tells you that they are trying to change the way education works now and for the future. Everyday, I seriously get excited waking up to look forward to what I’ll get to learn next at Kenzie. They have given me a new purpose in my career pathway and I am forever grateful!

Kenzie Academy is a great place for learning. They welcome students from diverse backgrounds to learn useful skills in a meaningful way that will actually prepare you for the “real” world. They teach skills that you cannot learn in a month long bootcamp and provide a more well-rounded experience than you can find anywhere else. The first year is front/back end development and the second year is a paid internship. You cannot find this kind of educational set up anywhere else. They also offer an income share agreement that will keep you free from student loan debt. For me, Kenzie Academy was pretty much a no-brainer when I decided it was time to take a drastic step in advancing my career potential.
