Code Platoon is a non-profit organization that helps military veterans find work in the civilian workforce through its immersive coding bootcamp.

Code Platoon Programs

Code Platoon’s programs help you launch your career in software engineering. Code Platoon’s flagship program, the full stack software engineering bootcamp, runs for 14 weeks. In this time, you will learn Python, HTML, CSS, Django, and JavaScript from professional software engineer instructors.

Code Platoon’s full stack software engineer bootcamp is delivered in person and online. However, students can also choose to study at their own pace through the school’s self-paced bootcamp option.

Bootcamp Prep

Most bootcamps require students to have coding experience before they can be admitted into a full-time program. If you are new to coding, we highly recommend that you consider this course.

Introduction to Coding

Code Platoon will teach you the basics of JavaScript to help you succeed in Bootcamp Prep. This self-paced program helps tech newbies with no prior coding experience.

Full Stack Software Engineering Bootcamp

Code Platoon will teach you full stack software engineering in under 14 weeks. You will learn JavaScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Git, and GitHub during this time. You will also learn some of the best career practices through this school’s career services, including resume preparation.

The classes are delivered both in-person through this school’s Chicago campus and online. However, only students who enroll in the in-person courses are eligible for Code Platoon’s paid apprenticeship program.

Code Platoon offers an evening and weekend program for veterans with other full-time commitments. However, this option is 28 weeks long.

Code Platoon Application Process

Only military veterans or military spouses are eligible for Code Platoon’s bootcamp. Its application process is rigorous as this school only accepts intelligent and hardworking people.

The application process is fairly straightforward. It starts with filling out a form with your personal information, including scholarship and VA funding interests. After completing the first part of the application process, you will receive a link sending you to the next part of the application process, testing your coding ability and problem-solving skills.

If you pass, Code Platoon will schedule an interview. During the interview, you will answer a series of essay questions to test your computer programming skills. The school’s interviewing board will also ask a series of questions to determine if you are a perfect fit.

Code Platoon Tuition and Financing Options

The total cost of Code Platoon’s full-stack program is $16,000. The school requires its students to pay a deposit of $500 after acceptance. Students can choose to pay the whole amount upfront.

If that option doesn’t work for you, consider obtaining the Veterans Affairs coverage, better known as VA funding. This option allows military veterans to get funding assistance through the GI Bill, VR&E, and VET TEC.

The other financing option that Code Platoon students have is scholarships. This school offers a wide range of scholarships for different demographics, including veterans and spouses, women, transgender veterans, and Black and Hispanic veterans.
