Byte Academy is a coding bootcamp that offers courses in Python and data science. If these areas are of interest to you, then keep reading. In this Byte Academy review and guide, we will cover the programs, admissions process, and financing options at this tech training school.
New York City-based Byte Academy is an in-person and online bootcamp that offers programs in data science and software development with Python.
Its courses are project-based and come with extensive career support. The school’s success is reflected in its 85 percent job placement rate. Upon leaving Byte Academy, graduates work at massive tech firms such as Microsoft, Google, and IBM.
Byte Academy has both introductory tech courses and immersive programs. The courses in Python or data science can be attended either full time or part time, with the former taking 14 weeks and the latter 24 weeks.
These courses conclude with an internship and will leave you fully prepared to launch your career in data science or software development. See the list below for a sample of Byte Academy’s immersive programs and intro classes.
The aim of this program is to give you industry-relevant skills that you can apply to a variety of tech careers. By the end of the bootcamp you will be able to build and implement your own end-to-end application.
In this immersive program, you will study machine learning, AI theories, programming languages, and data structures in depth. The coursework also covers mathematics concepts like algebra and statistics, which are essential to analyzing and visualizing data.
Intro to Python at Byte Academy is a free, online course in which you will learn Python and computer science basics. The two-week class is a good place to start if you’re a tech newbie. You will learn the fundamentals of Python, data structures, functions, loops, and more.
The topics covered will be of use whether you choose to proceed to the immersive data science course or the Python program.
If you want to get familiar with the basics of software development, this one-week course is a great starting point. This class is meant to be taken after Intro to Python.
The curriculum covers the foundations of HTML, CSS, Flask, and Google Firebase. By the time you finish this course, you will have a base knowledge of web pages, APIs, and web development.
The Intro to Data Science course is a one-week prep course that will fill you in on the basics before you start Byte Academy’s immersive data science program. In this short class, you will learn the foundations of databases, machine learning, neural networks, and application development.
To get into one of Byte Academy’s immersive courses, you must first apply online and wait for a call back for an interview. The interview is meant to gauge your technical background and ambitions, and to answer any queries you may have.
If you pass, you’ll be notified by an admissions officer and can then choose your payment type and make a deposit to save your seat in the course. At this point, you will also need to take one of the school’s prep courses or pass an assessment before you can join one of the long-term programs.
Byte Academy offers several financing options for its students who are unable to pay upfront. The school offers an income share agreement, which means you won’t have to pay your tuition until after you have secured a job. Byte Academy has also partnered with Ascent Funding and Climb Credit to offer loans.
If you’re a woman interested in taking the Python course, you can apply for a full scholarship opportunity via the school’s partnership with HerTech.

Switching careers can be a daunting task, but I am glad I chose Byte to help me through this transition. As a former Video Producer, my background is not related to tech but Byte gave me the confidence to pursue my goals. As a smaller program, students receive more individual attention and resources to quickly develop their skills. The teaching staff at Byte is beyond incredible. With their knowledge and help, I quickly went from a novice to writing complex applications in a matter of months. That is not to say that everything comes easy; I spent a lot of hours after school to make sure I was on top of the coursework. It can be quite demanding at times but you get what you put in.

I decided to make a career change and go from finance to tech, but I knew it was going to be a diffifult transition given my lack of programming experience. With the myriad of options in NYC, I am happy to say that I made the correct decision with Byte Academy. The fintech-focused curriculum complimented my finanical background and most importantly gave me the confidence and ability to go beyond just learning Python.
I recommend this course to those who are willing to put in the work and are ready for a change in their career path.

Two friends recommended I attend a bootcamp to learn to code, and so I knew what to expect in terms of work and time going in. Even then, the course was challenging enough that I spent pretty much all my time learning for 14 weeks.
If you stay on top of the work, the Fullstack Immersive will take up a lot of time but I’d expect most people to keep up. I learned a tremendous amount over the 14 weeks, enough to give me confidence in my abilities with Python specifically, but also in learning new languages and frameworks not covered in the course. I don’t always use Python on a day-to-day basis, so the most important skill I learned was probably comfort jumping into entirely new languages or design patterns without feeling lost, and then learning them quickly.
I’d recommend Byte’s Fullstack Immersive to anyone willing to put in the time, but know that it needs to be your priority the entire time or you might risk getting behind.
